Joby GP1 GorillaPod Flexible Tripod (Red)

This is an awesome product. The rubber grips hold on to just about anything, anywhere. We've attached it securely to lampposts, gates, and trees. Very convenient for nighttime or long-exposure photography, much easier than lugging around a heavy full-sized tripod. It's also very portable; we keep it clamped onto the strap of the camera bag when not in use. My only caution would be to pay careful attention to the weight limit. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and belatedly discovered that his heavier camera tended to collapse the Gorillapod when it was used as a normal tripod. However, when the Gorillapod is used to grip onto less standard surfaces, it holds up his camera just fine. And it has no problem with my lighter camera.

I have been very disappointed trying to take pictures with regular tripods. Part of the problem is that I am often taking pictures where there is no good place for a tripod to stand, specifically boats, yet I still want the mobility of a small, compact tripod that I can easily pack along with my other gear. Since I purchased this item, I can now take pictures on a moving boat with ease! Plus, I can safely and easily secure it between pictures, too. Highly recommended, incredible value for the price.

I purchased this tripod to use with a Creative Labs Pocket Camcorder. The camera is very light, so this stand works perfectly!! It may not be for you if you have a heavy camera, but great for my camcorder.

My 10-year-old has been having fun playing with his new (hand-me-down) digital camera, so I bought him this tripod as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. He's had lots of fun with it, and I have all the digital pictures to prove it! It probably would not work well with larger or heavier cameras, but for a small digital camera, it's perfect. And the price simply can't be beat!
